Canada Provincial Nominee Program
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for Canada:
Launched in 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a highly popular way to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker.
The program lets Canadian provinces and territories pick candidates who have the expertise and skills required to contribute to their local economy.
There are 2 kinds of PNPs- the Express Entry Stream and the Non Express Entry Stream.
If you’ve a less CRS score and interested in migrating to Canada, the PNP could be your perfect option!
The Benefits of applying through PNP
A Canadian dependent visa is a popular entry permit. It allows an existing Canadian resident to sponsor their family members (including spouses, partners & children) to come to Canada and live with them.
- You could receive a provincial nomination, which could increase your chances of being selected by the Canadian government for permanent residency
- You could choose the province or territory that best fits your goals and preferences
- You could receive a faster invitation even with less CRS score than other immigration programs
The steps to apply
Express Entry Stream
- In this stream, you must have an active Express Entry Profile and show the province and territories you are interested in.
- If your occupation is under the demand list of any province, the specific province will send you the “Notification of Interest” based on their selection criteria, and you need to accept it electronically.
- After accepting the offer, Province will send a “Nomination Letter,” which gives additional 600 points and almost guarantees the ITA (Invitation to apply) through the Federal draw for a Permanent Residence visa.
Non-Express Entry Stream
- You must meet the eligibility criteria and requirements of the province you’re applying to.
- Once you’re nominated by any Canadian province, you’ll have 60 days to complete the application and pay the fees.
- It is usually longer than through Online Express Entry System
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the PNP, you must be:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a Graduate Degree
- Have a minimum of two years of work experience
- Be proficient in English or French
- Meet any specific requirements of the province or territory you're applying to
